Speaker Bio
Eric Tamarkin is Senior Director and Public Policy Counsel for Samsung Electronics America, a U.S. subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea. Based in Washington, D.C., he leads Samsung’s U.S. cybersecurity and supply chain security public policy formulation and engagement with government and industry.
Mr. Tamarkin is an attorney with over two decades of experience in all three branches of the U.S. government. He served as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security and as the Director of Legislative Affairs at the National Protection & Programs Directorate (now CISA), where he led interactions with the U.S. Congress on cybersecurity.
Mr. Tamarkin was Senior Counsel to the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee, where he advised on national security, privacy, and cybersecurity matters. Additionally, he handled a diverse portfolio of legal and economic policy matters as Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee and as a Legislative Assistant.
Prior to his eight years in the U.S. Congress, Mr. Tamarkin served as a law clerk to two judges. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and J.D. from Boston College Law School.
