Rob Soni leads Radio Access Network architecture for VMware. Rob has more than 20 years’ experience in building out wireless infrastructure at scale for a variety of customers. He has led architecture, and technology strategy efforts across a number of different infrastructure vendors.
Prior to joining VMware, Rob was leading true cloud native RAN development efforts inside an incubator project inside Bell Labs at Nokia. Rob has more than 40 patents and more than 100 refereed publications. For pivotal work in winning key North American customers wireless business and for helping to define transformative system architectures for 4G wireless networks - Rob was recognized as a Bell Labs fellow in 2009. Rob has led teams of engineers around the globe in helping to shape and design the state of the art wireless networks.
Rob had served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Rob received his Ph.D. and Masters in Electrical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He received his BSEE from the University of Cincinnati.
